Robert Sedin set a franchise record by striking out 20 batters en route to hurling a complete-game one-hitter as the Challengers blanked the Zurich Lions 8-0 in Game 2 of a two-game series on Thursday night at the Heerenschürli. Pitching on three days' rest, Sedin walked just four batters. He has now a 4-1 record with a 1.67 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 43 innings.
The Challengers broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning, as Harry Bregy singled in Bryan Shemley and they added four more runs in the sixth to make it 5-0. Eidrys Reyes went 3-for-3, while Bryan Shemley had two hits and scored twice and Tobias Siegrist and Robert Sedin crossed the plate twice each.
With this victory the C's joined the Bern Cardinals, the Embrach Mustangs and the Zürich Barracudas with 12 wins. The C's will face the Lions again on Thursday, July 11 for another night game at the Heerenschürli
