5Challengers cruise to 13-5 win over Devils
The Challengers softball team swept the Wil Devils on Saturday, May 25th, 13-5 & 8-7.In the first game of the double header Leandra Simitovic pitched brilliantly surrendering only one earned run with 4 strike outs. The Challengers were able to get ahead early in the game scoring 5 runs with four hits while being a threat on the bases.
Simona Cellar led the team with her bat going 3 for 3 at the plate with a homer and 3 RBIs. The Challengers were able to keep the momentum up throughout the game with help from Ziegylou Wehrli's double in the 4th and Macy Morgans two run triple in the 5th inning.
The Challengers offence was unstoppable throughout the game with a total of 14 hits allowing the challengers to beat the Devils in only 5 innings.
Game notes
Cellar belted her first home run in her 302nd career at bat for the Challengers in the top of the second inning against the Wil Devils. It was an inside-the-park home run off of Jrene Bühler. ...Simitovic scored the 2000th run in team's history, as Henna Määttä delivered a two-run single in the top of the first inning. ...Määttä had her first career multi-hit game and scored her first career runs, as she crossed the plate three times.
