4Challengers rally for 4-3 victory
The Devils also jumped off to a good start in Game 2, as they built a 3-0 lead in the first inning. But the C's settled down after committing several errors in the first frame and erased the deficit to eventually win 4-3.Two errors and a successful double steal made it 3-0, but the Challengers answered right away to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the inning.
Leandra Simitovic started the frame with a bunt single, followed by sacrifice bunts from Nadja Critelli and Karen Heimgartner that both led to errors in the Devils defense and to two runs, before Sandrine Montandon drove in Heimgartner to tie the game.
Then both teams exchanged zeros on the scoreboard for thext four innings, before the C's broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Ziegylou Wehrli drove in Cellar with a sacrifice fly to left field to make it 4-3 and to celebrate a much needed victory.
Karen Heimgartner allowed three runs and eight hits with one walk and struck out a season high 13 batters.
The Challengers will face the Bern Cardinals on Saturday, September 7 at Bern. With a sweep the C's could clinch the playoff berth.
