Flyers cruise to 11-1 victory in Game 2

Game 2 was all Flyers, as they jumped on starter Karen Heimgartner for five runs in the first inning and held on for an easy 11-1 victory.

Former Challengers player Nancy Plamondon opened the score on a wild pitch, while Melanie Wanner followed with a two-run single and Patricia Grabowicz added a RBI-single, before the Flyers made it 5-0 on the first error of the day by the C’s defense.

After the Flyers extended their lead to 6-0, the C’s scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the second frame. Simona Cellar led off with her fifth double of the season and was batted forward by Sandrine Montandon’s single, before crossing the plate on a passed ball to make it 1-6.

The Flyers opened the third frame with four consecutive hits to end the day for Heimgartner. Macy Morgan took over, but the Flyers already put things out of reach with a 10-1 lead.

Simona Cellar and Sandrine Montandon delivered two hits each, while Macy Morgan allowed two runs and five hits in three innings of relief for the C’s. Patricia Grabowicz went a game high 3-for-3 with three RBI’s and scored a run, while five different Flyers starters had two hits in a 16-hit attack.
