9Flyers take season opener
The Challenger's Softball Team opened its season with a double-header against the Therwil Flyers on Sunday, April 14 at Therwil.Game 1 started slow for the Challengers, as the Flyers' heavy bats put them well ahead in the early innings of the game. The Challengers eventually settled and found their swings, bringing the game within a 2 run score of 8-6. Although still not enough to clinch the win, the Challengers' comeback was the momentum they needed to head into the second game.
Special mention to Leandra Simitovic for her work on the mound and smart base running by Simona Cellar kept the Challengers in the game until the end.
Game notes
Montague went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run in her first game for the Challengers. ...Määttä singled in her first at-bat for the Challengers in the top of the fourth frame. ...Cellar scored her 100th run for the Challengers, as Taylor Mc Cants drove her in in the top of the first inning.
