5Challengers not good enough to top Cardinals
In game 1 of the season-ending double-header against the Bern Cardinals the NLB-squad could not achieve sufficient quality in both defense and offense.The Cardinals pounded starter Dean Scherbaum for 11 hits in 6 innings, but Scherbaum gave up most of these hits in innings that were prolongued by one of the total 7 errors by his defense.
In consequence, 9 of the 10 runs the Cardinals scored were unearned.
Offensively the Challengers had their moments, but stranded to many baserunners.
Yanik Probst led the game off with a triple, Adrian Kämpfer">Adrian Kämpfer drove in a pair with a 2-out triple, Lukas Krautter hit his first double, Daiki Sato and Micha Seger singled, while Scherbaum and Alex Gordon collected RBI's.
