12Youngsters lead Challengers to victory
The Challengers cruised to a 12-4 victory over the Therwil Flyers in game 2 of last Saturday's double header. And it was a bunch of teenagers that led the way.Sixteen year-old starter Korey Kovac fanned 3 batters in his 3 innings of work, but also had to surrender 3 earned runs on 4 hits. He helped himself at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI-double in the first inning, his first double of the season, and 3 runs scored.
Because of the pitching restrictions Korey handed the ball over to fifteen year-old Jarrod Baker in the fourth inning. Baker almost copied the performance of his precessor, striking out 4, while allowing one earned run on 4 hits, thus earning his first career-win in the NLB. Baker, too, contributed offensively to the win with an RBI-single in the sixth inning.
The most successfull hitter for the Challengers, meanwhile, was sixteen-year old Yanik Probst with 3 runs scored, two triples and a double for a game-high 3 RBI's.
After Baker's 3 innings of work, the game was sealed by a veteran whose age shall not be mentioned here: Kurt Kovac closed the game with a perfect seventh inning.
