3Challengers pick up first win
After two scoreless innings, the Challengers started the scoring and didn’t stop until they had 13 runs on the board in a 13-3 rout of the Sissach Frogs.Dean Scherbaum pitched a gem as he allowed only a single unearned run for his first win of the season. He conceded only one walk and struck out a career-high 11 batters.
Corsin Jost hit three singles and collected a game-high three RBI’s, while four other batters collected two RBI’s each.
Scherbaum retired nine consecutive batters from the bottom of the first through the fourth inning, seven of them on three strikes.
Only an error by second baseman Jost allowed the Frogs to score three times in the sixth inning, but the Challengers’ lead was to big to overcome.
