The Athletics scored one more run in the second inning, but the Challengers again reacted quickly, this time scoring three runs, one of them unearned, on a bases-load walk to Harry Bregy, Bülte's RBI-single and Zöllig's sac fly to deep center for a 4-2 lead.
Zöllig (2-2) managed to keep the Athletics scoreless through the next two innings and his offense provided him in the meantime with a 6-2 lead, thanks to another bases-loaded walk to Bregy and Benny Räber's RBI-single in the bottom of the fourth.
After that, the two teams combined to score just one more single run in the remaining 2½ innings for the final score of 6-3 in the Challengers' favor.
