The Challengers had the lead just once, going up 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, but there was nothing to cheer about after that.

The Lions started a 18-hit attack on starter Patrick Zöllig and reliever Harry Bregy, and also profited from five errors by an unexperienced Challengers lineup.

Coach Johnny Müller had to use two juniors and two retired players to fill his roster just to be able to play their opponents.

Longtime Challenger Peter Rothenhäusler and former NLA-player Yves Huber teamed up with some core NLB-players like Bregy, Zöllig and Manu Schretzmann. The other players included rarely used players such as Thomas Blank, Alexis Misailidis or Oliver Labhart.

The Lions roared through the third and fourth innings, and scored a total of 10 runs on eight hits in that two innings alone.

They had one more 5-run inning in the final frame, getting three RBI-singles and a two-run single by Köstinger.

The Lions' squad included four former Challengers: Giorgio Szentgyörgyi, Enrico Zingg, Wayne Testino and Fabian Monn.

Starter Zingg pitched six plus innings, giving up eight runs - three of them unearned - on 11 hits and two walks, while Testino got the last three outs to seal the Challengers' fifth loss in this year's NLB Playoff round.
