Willy Schaub> |
Willy Schaub got his first career win and his first extra-base hit of the season. |
Manager Johnny Müller thought it was enough work for Zöllig and brought in reliever Willy Schaub (1-0) in the top of the fourth.
The first three batters he faced got on with two walks and a double, but he escaped further trouble when Thommen lined a shot right at shortstop Zöllig who quickly threw to Joe Cox to double Steiner off second base.
Urs Blickenstorfer and Tobias Siegrist combined to pitch the last three innings, allowing seven more runs to score.
But by the time Blickenstorfer came in in the top of the fifth, the Challengers were already leading 28-5 thanks to Siegrist who went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI's, Blickenstorfer going 4-for-6 with 2 RBI's and Zöllig who was a perfect 6-for-6 with 4 RBI's to raise his batting average from .136 to .321.
