It took the NLB-team 2 hours and 50 minutes to complete one of the worst games in its history as they went down silently 9-23 to the Red Barons.Alexis Misailidis> |
Alexis Misailidis was a perfect 4-for-4, including his first double of the season. |
Alexis Misalidis had to start the game, because regular starter Harry Bregy was still in school and Benny Räber had to play with the NLA-team. Misailidis (0-1) lasted just 0.1 innings, pitching to six batters and giving up three walks and a hit-by-pitch. He was relieved by Willy Schaub, another unexperienced pitcher. He gave up 12 earned runs over 2.2 innings but took it lightly as his team was behind in the score 17-2 after three innings.
Philippe Rérat finished the game by throwing three solid innings although allowing six earned runs on two hits and five bases-on-balls.
The only highlight in the Challengers' offense came in the fourth inning as they scored three runs on two doubles and a single.
Alexis Misailidis may have sucked in the defense but he contributed with his bat. He had four hits in as many at-bats, including a double to raise his team-leading average to a whopping .636. Philippe Rérat had three hits with his first homer of the year and his second of his career.
Although the Challengers had 13 hits compared to 10 by the Red Barons, they still lost pretty clearly. That was because of the 18 walks the Challenger pitchers gave up (compared to only 2 by Patrizio who pitched a complete game).
