2Flyers trash Challengers 14-2 in Game 2
Game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader was a one-sided affair as the Therwil Flyers’ Devon Barker proved why he is the leagues’ top pitcher. He went the distance for his league-leading sixth win of the season, allowing two runs on nine hits and two walks, while also striking out 11.
Robert Sedin and his Challengers managed to keep the game close through six innings, as they trailed only 4-1.
But the wheels feel off for the Challengers in the eighth inning as the Flyers sent 15 batters to the plate as reliever Mario Idelfonso couldn’t get the job done. Nine Flyers crossed the plate to put the game out of reach.
The Challengers managed to jump on Barker in the bottom half of the inning, stringing together four consecutive one-out hits, but only one run resulted from that upheaval.
Harry Bregy gave his return to the mound as he pitched one-third of an inning in a losing cause.
