6Challengers edge Frogs 7-6 for DH sweep
Robert Sedin earned his first wein of the season as he tossed six innings in Saturday’s 7-6 win against the Sissach Frogs.He allowed five runs on 12 hits and three walks, while also striking out three. While he allowed a baserunner to reach into scoring position in every inning except one, the Frogs went only 1-for-14 with RISP.
His offense made sure that he never run into trouble as it posted five runs in the first two innings off Mario Idelfonso.
After hitting two doubles and a homer in Game 1 of the doubleheader, Tobias Siegrist added two more doubles and two singles to boost his batting average to an even .500, trailing only Sedin’s .509 mark who went 3-for-5 with two doubles.
The Challengers went 5-for-11 with RISP, and now hold the top three spots in the NLA with Jesus Martinez’ .667, Siegrist’s .654 and Sedin’s .591 batting averages in those situations. Their collective .396 batting average also leads the Zurich Barracudas’ .364 mark in that category.
James Sanders pitched the final three innings, striking out the last four batters he faced which earned him his second career save with the Challengers and the first since June 23, 2013 against the Lucerne Eagles.
Taylor Eichhorst launched his league-leading eighth homer of the season which temporarily cut the Challengers’ lead to 7-3 in the fifth inning. His league-leading OPS now stands at 2.008, eclipsing the Flyers Stowers’ 1.645 mark.

Sanders stole his 50th base since joining the Challengers. …Zeller stole his 153th career base and broke a tie with Anubis Benitez for 3rd place on the Challengers all-time list. ...Sedin struck out Stephan Wick in the fifth inning for his 300th career strike out.
