17Challengers revamped lineup dominates Devils in 17-2 win
The Challengers scored early and often against the Devils en route to a 17-2 win in six innings in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader at the Heerenschürli. They inserted three players into the lineup who are regulars on the NLB-team, with Andreas Rüdisühli giving his career debut in the NLA. Juan Bautista started in left field and Adderly Sarmiento in right.
On the mound, it was business as usual as Tobias Siegrist started for the 62nd time on the mound, tossing five innings in which he allowed Gian Gladig's leadoff single as the only hit over five innings. In the end, he didn't surrender a walk and struck out five for his third win of the season.
Thomas Blank came on in the sixth inning, giving his pitching debut in the NLA. He didn't fare bad as he gave up only one run on two hits and a walk, and also striking out the final Devil batter.
Siegrist also sparked the Challengers offense as he went 3-for-4 with six RBIs and four runs scored. Francisco Colindres hit his first career triple with the Challengers in the third inning, and Bautista also added two hits in his 2016 debut in the NLA.
Game notes
Colindres' triple was the first triple for the Challengers since Eidrys Reyes did it against the Bern Cardinals on July 26, 2014.
