10Challengers, Sanders dominate Cardinals in Game 2
James Sanders delivered another solid pitching performance as he held the Bern Cardinals to three runs over eight innings in a 10-3 victory in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader at the Heerenschürli.Just like in Game 1, the Challengers again jumped ahead by scoring three times, but this time managed to hang on thanks to Sanders' dominance on the mound.
He finished his workday by conceding 10 hits and no walks while striking out three for his second win of the season.
Tobias Siegrist led the Challengers' offense with three hits and five RBIs, and Robert Sedin contributed with two hits, three runs scored and a stolen base, pushing his team-leading batting average to .423.
After that disastrous first inning, the Cardinals weren't done, yet, and made it interesting by scoring twice in the second inning on Regis Reinhard's run-scoring ground out and an error by right fielder Bryan Shemley.
But the Challengers scored six unanswered runs off starter Martin Almstetter and reliever Ernesto Pereira to put the game away.
