1Flyers roll Challengers 11-1 in seven
The Flyers continued where they left off after Game 1's 20-0 trashing, handing the Challengers another mercy-rule blowout with an 11-1 rout.Flyers starter Jackson Shannon faced off against Robert Sedin, and it looked like a true pitcher's duel through the first four innings.
Shannon was staked to a 2-0 lead after four innings on Lucas Hagberg's RBI-double in the third and Stefan Koller's RBI-single in the fourth inning.
But the Flyers broke loose in the fifth inning on four hits, a base-on-balls and a hit-by-pitch by Sedin, while Shannon dominated the Challengers' offense.
The Challengers had three baserunners through the first five innings, with Jesus Martinez being the only one reaching as far as third base on Bryan Shemley's two-out single in the fourth.
Player coach Clayton Carson relieved Sedin to start the sixth inning, and only had to concede a single run as he hit Koller with a pitch with the bases loaded.
But in the seventh, an RBI-single by Rafael Eigenmann and two errors on a botched pick-off attempt extended the Flyers' lead to 11-0.
The Challengers scored their lone run of the day on Thomas Blank's RBI infield single in the seventh and final inning.
