3Guarrera outduels Sedin in 3-1 win for Flyers
Game 2 of Sunday’s doubleheader between the Challengers and the Therwil Flyers promised to be a fine pitchers’ duel, and the game lived up to the hype.Sedin took the loss in Game 2 of Sundays doubleheader.
In the end, one bad inning for Sedin cost his team the game as RBI-doubles by Emanuel Raouzeos and Sven Leemann were all the difference in a 3-1 win for the Flyers.
Before that, the Flyers already threatened in the second and third innings, but failed both times to score runners from third base.
Guarrera went on to pick up his second win of the season by scattering five hits in a complete-game effort, slightly raising his league-leading ERA to 0.60.
Sedin, on the other hand, got the credit for a tough loss as he allowed two runs on seven hits and one base-on-balls in seven innings.
Game notes
After retiring all his batters on strikes in Game 1, reliever Ryan Byrne again retired all the batters on strikes in Game 2, making it nine strikeouts in three innings in the doubleheader. ...Sedin raised his batting average from .286 to .379 by going 5-for-8 in the doubleheader. Eidrys Reyes leads all Challengers with a .414 average after going 4-for-9 on the day.
