1Challengers outslug Lions 14-1
The Challengers scored early and in pairs to drown the Zurich Lions 14-1 for their second win of the season.Harry Bregy started and went four innings, Thomas Burger pitched two innings in relief for the win, and newly acquired Luis Valdez led the offense with three hits. Robert Sedin went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base, and Eidrys Reyes improved his batting average to .400 with a 2-for-4 game.
The Challengers scored in every inning except the last one to finish the game after seven innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. On the other hand, the Lions scored their only run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Juan Guzman.
The only other time the Lions had a runner on third base was in the sixth inning when they loaded the bases off Burger on a single, a base-on-balls and a hit-by-pitch.
But catcher Tobias Siegrist picked Hanel Novas off third to kill the Lions’ rally.
Reliever Ryan Byrne pitched a perfect ninth to seal the victory.
