1Lawson handles Challengers to tie Series at 1-1
The Challengers were overmatched by Patrick Lawson and the Bern Cardinals in Game 2 of their Best-of-5 Semifinals Series, losing 6-1 at the Heerenschürli on Saturday.Lawson threw a complete game six-hitter, allowing only one single earned run, while also striking out nine.
He outdueled Robert Sedin who struck out 10 batters over eight innings.
But a four-run first inning put the Challengers in a bad position, never being able to put a threat together. The only run came on Jesus Martinez' run-scoring ground out after Sedin and Tobias Siegrist reached on consecutive singles and then pulled out a successful double steal.
Other than that, only four other Challengers reached as far as second base, and the Challengers went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
The Cardinals outhit the Challengers 9-6, and also committed one less error which - in the end - was the difference in the game.
Game notes
Three Cardinals had at least two hits, while Sedin was the only Challenger with two hits.
