2Challengers keep cruising with 8-2 win over Eagles
The Challengers won their fourth straight decision, still keeping their slim Playoff hopes alive, by overcoming the Lucerne Eagles 8-2 in the late innings.Battling for five innings and hanging on to a slim 1-0 lead, Robert Sedin and his offense finally exploded in the top of the sixth as they scored three unanswered runs on three singles for a 4-0 lead.
They tacked on four more in the eighth inning on five singles and two errors to put away the game.
Sedin (4-2) pitched seven innings for the win in which he struck out 10, walked two and gave up only two singles, Bryan Shemley went 3-for-5 with a game-high 2 RBIs, and both Saentis Zeller and Harry Bregy added two hits apiece.
Game notes
Zeller surpassed his career-high for at-bats in a season with 87. He also set a new career-high with his 42nd hit of the season, an RBI-single in the eighth inning. ...Bregy's single in the eighth inning was his 200th hit in the NLA. ...With the win, the Challengers finished off their first perfect August since 1998, winning all four contests.
