The Swiss Champions Bern Cardinals started slowly, but then wasted no time to show why they were the nation's best team last year.The Cardinals outhit the Challengers 16-5, led by Seth Suplin and John Baum who both went 3-for-4, including one homer, five RBIs and seven runs scored.
Tobias Imboden pitched another complete game for his first win of the season, allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks, while also striking out five.
Every Cardinal except Miro Bussmann had at least one hit, but only three of the Cardinals' 16 hits went for extra innings.
