3Siegrist outduels Croton in 4-3 stunner
Tobias Siegrist pitched all 10 innings in Sunday's Game 1 which the Challengers won 4-3 thanks to a sacrifice fly by Thomas Blank in the 10th inning.JB Tucker launches a 2-run homer over the left field fences in the sixth inning.
Chris Palatinus led the Challengers' offense with a 3-for-5 performance and two RBIs, Siegrist had a single and a double, and Jesus Martinez also added a two-bagger.
JB Tucker provided the Flyers' biggest offensive spark as he hit his league-leading fifth homer of the season to tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning.
Before that, Croton allowed Palatinus' RBI-single in the third inning, which the Flyers erased on Hideori Oshima's RBI-single in the bottom half of the inning.
Another RBI-single by Palatinus in the sixth inning plus an error by shortstop Takanobu Oshima gave the Challengers a 3-1 lead.
Adrian Kaufmann relieved Croton in the eighth inning with one out, and shut out the Challengers in his 1 2-3 innings of work.
The Flyers couldn't get anything going against Siegrist as his defense remained tough and made all the necessary plays in the final four innings.
Stefan Koller took over in the top of the 10th and quickly faced two runners in scoring position with just one out after Siegrist walked and Palatinus advanced him with a double to deep right field.
Martinez was walked intentionally to load the bases, and Blank lined the first offering to left field for the deciding edge, handing Koller his first loss of the season.
Second baseman Saentis Zeller had a tough day as he made two errors that almost backfired. The first one was capitalized on by Tucker in the sixth inning. The second one was left stranded on second base in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Zeller popped out to short in the fifth inning in his 900th plate appearance in the NLA. ...Palatinus passed Anubis Benitez for 3rd place on the Challengers alltime list for doubles with 107.
