2Indians hand Challengers 13-2 defeat
The Challengers conclude their regular season with yet another defeat to the Lausanne Indians. The Indians played for second place in the standings, while the Challengers had no more ambitions after wrapping up the final Playoff berth last week against the Embrach Rainbows.
The Indians flexed their muscles in usual manner as they out-slugged the Challengers 13-2, combining four four homers.
They added six more singles, and that was enough against a helpless Challengers offense that scraped together only six hits.
Cleanup batter Jose Ramirez led all players with a 3-for-4 performance, inlcuding two homers, three RBI's, three runs and a stolen base. Rafael Jimenez and Rafael de Freites added five more hits, inlcuding a homer each.
Yonimiler Martinez was the only Challenger with a homer, his second of the season.
But on the mound, he was less effective as he allowed 10 runs in just three innings, although only three of those runs were earned.
Another dismal defensive showing by the Challengers with nine errors gave the Indians too many chances to score.
Angel Maduro pitched the final four innings, allowing three more runs on two hits and two walks.
The best-of-5 Playoff Semifinals will start on August 29 against the Therwil Flyers.
