11Rainbows keep Playoff hopes alive with stunning 13-11 victory
Trying to secure the final Playoff spot, the Challengers struggled and were upset by the Embrach Rainbows 13-11 in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader. The Rainbows again roughed up starter Chris Palatinus, sending him to the showers in the second inning already.
The Challengers outhit the Rainbows 16-13, but the Rainbows' hits were more efficient.
By the third inning, Thomas Fasching was a perfect 3-for-3, just a double shy of the cycle. He eventually finished 3-for-5 with four RBI's.
Ueli von Burg came up big for the Challengers with a 5-for-6 performance, collecting five RBI's.
But after three innings, the Rainbows already led 11-5, and the Challengers only managed to nibble at the Rainbows' lead against Roger Savoldelli.
Also, the Challengers' defense was an issue, again, as they committed six errors.
