Challengers improve to 3-5 with 11-4 win

The Challengers completed the sweep against the Wil Devils with an undisputed 11-4 win in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader.

Saentis Zeller went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBI's, Tobias Siegrist added two doubles and three RBI's, and Jesus Martinez added three more hits in a 13-hit attack.

Although the Devils managed to turn the game around in the third inning against Thomas Landis, taking a 2-1 lead on a run-scoring double play, and an error, the Challengers feasted on Rusty Tiedemann and scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning for a 4-2 lead.

In the fourth inning, three singles, two doubles, a walk and a sac bunt was too much for the Devils to overcome the rest of the game.

They managed to score two more times in the fifth inning on a first-and-third double-steal, and Tiedemann's RBI-double, but Landis (1-1) was never in danger of losing control of the game.

Reliever Josh Crouse surrendered three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on Kurt Kovac's ground out to right, Adrian Kämpfer">Adrian Kämpfer's RBI-single, and Landis' run-scoring ground out.

Every Challenger starter except Landis got on base at least once, outhitting the Devils 13-5.

Player coach Andy Fleischacker threw a perfect seventh inning to close out the game.

Game notes
The last time Zeller faced the Devils/Rainbows, he hit seven doubles. Today, he hit a total of five doubles. ...The eight walks given up by Landis were the most since walking eight Frogs on May 9, 1999 ...The Challengers improved to 3-5, and are looking to even their record against the Sissach Frogs on May 18.
