Indians trash Challengers with 32 hits

An unexpected power surge by the Lausanne Indians caught the Challengers off foot and a bitter 22-12 loss in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader.

The Indians pounded Thomas Burger and the other three relievers for 32 hits, setting a new Challengers high for hits allowed.

Leadoff batter De Freites had four doubles, a triple and two singles in seven trips to the plate, Martinez and Jimenez each went 5-for-6, and Casimiro collected five RBI's with four hits.

This output overshadowed the Challengers' performance with 13 hits off Nicolas Jaquemet. Harry Bregy and Thomas Landis went both 3-for-4, and Tobias Siegrist added his first homer of the season in the fourth inning, a two run shot to dead center field.

Simon Saxer gave his debut in the NLA by relieving Burger in the fourth inning, but he didn't survive the fifth inning after allowing five hits and a base-on-balls.

Chris Palatinus and Bregy pitched the final 3 1-3 innings, allowing seven more runs to score.
