Burger rejoins rotation as Cs overpower Eagles 11-3

Thomas Burger spent six months in the United States to improve his baseball skills.

Thomas Burger fanned 11 in his first NLA-complete-game.
Thomas Burger fanned 11 in his first NLA-complete-game.
In his first game after returning to his home country he already proved it was worth it, as the Challengers won the first game of the double header against the Reussbuhl Eagles 12-3.

Burger dominated the Eagles and tossed a complete game, the first of his career in the NLA. He allowed only 5 hits while striking out 11.

He was backed up by a solid team effort offensively, as every member of the starting lineup recorded at least one hit, with the exception of DH Anthony Bennett, who walked twice and hit a sacrifice fly.

Thomas Landis, Tobias Siegrist and Geovanni Ureña all doubled, and Thomas Blank had a team-high 2 RBI's.

Game notes
Harry Bregy singled in the fourth inning for his 150th NLA-hit.

Update 11.07.2006: The federation decided today, that the Challengers' NLA-team game against the Reussbuhl Eagles is forfeited 9-0 to the Eagles because starting pitcher Thomas Burger wasn't in possesion of a valid licence. The problem was, that Burger's portrait pictures weren't actual ones. Burger is an active baseball player for 10 years, and now his team loses a game because the federation didn't like his pictures. A mere financial fine would have done the cause.
The Challengers won't protest the decision due to the fact that the Zurich Barracudas' NLB-team has also lost two games by forfeit because two of their players - both active for more than a decade - didn't present correct pictures to the federation.
