21Challengers win 21-6 in Game to win berth for Qualification Round
After winning in six innings in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Reussbühl Eagles, the Challengers put together a 21-6 win with 20 hits.Manny Marchant went 3-for-5 and collected four RBI's. |
The Challengers' defense improved compared to the first game, committing only two errors, both in the final inning.
The Challengers batted around in the first inning, getting five hits and one walk.
Another six batters walked to the plate in the second inning, giving emergency starter Mark Fehlmann a hard time on the mound.
Starter Thomas Landis controlled the Eagles' offense most of the way, allowing only four runs on five hits in five innings.
By the time he left the mound, he and his offense had built up an 18-4 lead.
Thanks to a grand-slam homer in the third inning, Landis collected six RBI's, the most since also getting six against the Eagles on May 13, 2001.
Manny Marchant collected four RBI's, after getting five in Game 1.
