Landis and Zöllig combine on 19-0 shutout of Rainbows

After a 23-3 win in Game 1, the Challengers topped their performance with a 19-0 shutout of the Embrach Rainbows in Game 2.

Patrick Zöllig went 1-for-3 and is second on the team with a .571 batting average.
The Challengers' offense produced 19 runs on just 12 hits - including two doubles and two homers - but also profited from a lackluster Rainbow defense that committed seven errors that made five of all the runs unearned.

But the big difference in the game were the stellar pitching performances by starter Thomas Landis and reliever Patrick Zöllig. Landis went five innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out seven, and Zöllig pitched the final two innings, giving up just a single and two walks while also striking out a batter.

Third baseman Roger Brunner supported the offense with a game-high three hits and three RBI's. Armin Blickenstorfer">Armin Blickenstorfer had a two-run homer and an RBI-single, and Tobias Siegrist hit a two-run homer and an RBI-double.

Game notes:
The last shutout by a Challenger team happened last August 19 when Brunner pitched a complete game shutout against the Rainbows.
