Thomas Landis dominated the Flyers by going 3-for-5 with a homer and six RBI's while pitching a complete-game five-hitter.

The Challengers won their third consecutive game, this time against the second-place Flyers from Therwil. The score was 6-3 in the Challengers' favor after 41/2 innings before they blew it wide open with an eight-run fifth inning.

Flyers starter Alain Kurz (5-2) wasn't his dominating self as he struggled early on agains the hot Challenger batters. He gave up six runs in 3 2-3 innings, but just two were earned as his defense let him down with three errors in the first two innings. He left after giving up his fifth walk in the bottom of the fourth.

The Challengers profited from the lousy Flyers defense in the first two innings but also showed some power at the plate. Thomas Landis hit his second homer of the year that capped a big fifth inning for the Challengers. They sent 12 batters to the plate, 8 of them against Chris Klee who wasn't able to record a single out.

Roger Brunner started the inning with a solo shot over the right center field fence and Gary Kochlefl hit his first homer of the year to put the Challengers up 11-3. Landis followed three batters later with a three-run shot to put the game out of reach for the Flyers.

Both defenses were shaky as the two teams combined for 11 errors.

Armin Blickenstorfer">Armin Blickenstorfer had just one hit in three at-bats and Bryan Shemley went hitless in four appearances. That, combined with his three hits, put Landis into the lead in batting average with .397. His seven wins are also unmatched.
