The Softball Team traveled to Herrenberg, Germany on Sunday, April 5, where they played against the Augsburg Dirty Slugs and the Herrenberg Wanderers, both from the First German Bundesliga. After losing 0-8 to the Dirty Slugs the C’s lost 15-17 against the Wanderers.

The Challengers U15 Cadets will face the Therwil Flyers on Saturday, April 4, in a exhibition game that will start at 12.30pm.

The NLA-Team opened its preseason at the rain-shortened Embrach Spring Tournament on March 28 and 29. On Saturday the C’s lost their only game of the weekend 6-11 to the Zurich Barracudas. All the other games had to be cancelled due to rain.
The friendly games of the Softball Team on Sunday, March 29, against the Augsburg Dirty Slugs and the Herrenberg Wanderers, both from the First German Bundesliga had to be cancelled as well.
Challengers open their Preseason
The NLA-Team will open its preseason with a handful of games at the Embrach Spring Tournament on March 28 and 29, kicking things off Saturday morning at 9 am against the Zurich Barracudas. The C’s will also face the Sissach Frogs on Saturday at 1 pm and the Embrach Rainbows on Sunday at 9.30 am. The finals will be played on Sunday at 1.30 and 3.30 pm. Cadets gewinnen Rümlanger Hallenturnier

Die Cadets beendeten ihre Hallensaison mit einem Sieg. Die Challengers gewannen am Samstag, 21. März das Hallenturnier in Rümlang. Das Team von Headcoach Bryan Shemley erreichte mit zwei Siegen und einem Unentschieden den Final gegen die Rümlang Kobras. Beide Verteidigungen agierten tadellos, sodass bis zur Spielhälfte keine Runs verbucht wurden. Die Challengers konnten dann durch einen 3-Run Homerun von Korey Kovac im fünften Inning auf 4-1 davon ziehen. Die Gastgeber verkürzten jedoch wieder auf 3-4, ehe Gabe Staub mit dem 5-3 den Blauen den Turniersieg sicherte. Weitere Infos

The Cadets finished their indoor season with a victory. The C’s won the Indoor Tournament at Rümlang on Saturday, March 21. With two wins and one draw in the qualification round the team of headcoach Bryan Shemley reached the final against the Rümlang Kobras. Both teams played flawless in the field, so that they changed zeros on the scoreboard for the first half of the game. In the fifth inning the C’s took a 4-1 lead after a 3-Run Homerun by Korey Kovac. But the Kobras almost erased the deficit, before Gabe Staub made it 5-3 to seal the deal.

Die U15-Cadets der Challengers beschliessen ihre Hallensaison am Samstag, 21. März mit dem Hallenturnier in Rümlang, Turnhalle Heuel. Sie treffen dabei auf die Therwil Flyers, die Wittenbach Vikings und die Rümlang Kobras. Das Turnier beginnt um 13.05 Uhr, das Finalspiel findet um 16.35 Uhr statt.

The Swiss All Stars played two friendly games against the Solingen Alligators from the 1st German Bundesliga on March 14 and 15. The Swiss lost twice to the team of former Challengers head coach Andy Fleischacker. On Saturday the A’s rallied for a close 6-5 win over the Swiss, while the Germans cruised to a 16-3 victory on Sunday. Challengers Thomas Landis, Chris Palatinus, Tobias Siegrist and Patrick Zöllig played for the Swiss All Stars.

The Alligators finished first in the Bundesliga North and reached the semifinals of the German Championship in 2008. Former Challengers head coach Andy Fleischacker took charge of the A’s for the 2009 season.
