Challengers split again

The NLA-Team still makes no headway. The C’s split again on Saturday, June 20 at the Heerenschürli ballpark, this time against the promoted Sissach Frogs. All began with a false start, as the guest team led 4-0 after the top of the first inning. The C’s cut the deficit to two runs after four, but a total of 16 hits and several errors by the C’s defense led to an easy 11-4 win for the Frogs. Especially in the first half of the game the C’s stranded several baserunners, as they missed the chance to turn things around. Juan Guzman led the offense with three hits and two RBI’s.

In Game 2 the Challengers already had their backs against the wall concerning a playoff spot. But they scored six runs in the second inning on four hits, two hit batters, a sac fly and a sac bunt. Though the C’s didn’t score any further runs the damage was done. Starter James Sanders made a good start coming back from the disabled list, as he allowed six hits and two walks in four innings of work, while striking out five. Robert Sedin and Tobias Siegrist had two hits apiece, while six different players scored the runs in a 6-0 win.
