The Softball-Team finished the preeliminary round in fourth place to clinch the final playoff spot. The Challengers got the help they needed to remain in fourth place, as the Wil Devils and the Bern Cardinals split on Sunday, September 8. Either of both teams would have passed the C's in the standings with a sweep, but after the Devils won the first game of the day 20-6, the Cardinals posted a 2-0 victory in Game 2 to send the Challengers into the playoffs.
The C's will face the first-placed Therwil Flyers on Saturday, September 14 at Therwil for Game 1 and Game 2 of the best-of-three semi-final series.

Ladies split with Cardinals, remain in 4th place
The Softball-Team stays in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot till the last day of the Round Robin. But now their fate isn't in their own hands anymore. The Challengers split with the Bern Cardinals on Saturday, September 7 to defend their fourth place with a 6-14 record. The Challengers posted a 6-3 win in Game 1, but failed to add another victory in Game 2 to clinch the playoff spot, as the C's were shut down 4-0 by the Cardinals. The Cards will face the Wil Devils on Sunday, September 8 for the last games of the Round Robin.

The NLB-Team swept the Hünenberg Unicorns on Saturday, September 7 to finish the preeliminary round in third place. The Challengers posted a 13-3 win in Game 1, followed by a 13-5 victory in Game 2 to move over .500 for the first time since opening day. The C's have now a 12-11 record and will face either the Bern Cardinals or the Therwil Flyers in the best-of-three semi-final series. The playoffs will begin on September 27.

Das Softball-Team trifft am Samstag, 7. September um um 11.00 und 13.30 Uhr auf der Berner Allmend auf die Bern Cardinals. Es handelt sich um einen Nachholtermin, nachdem die beiden Partien am 24. August wegen Regens abgesagt werden mussten. Mit zwei Siegen würden sich die Challengers für die Playoffs qualifizieren. Im Hinspiel am 11. Mai in Zürich teilten sich die Teams die Punkte. Die Challengers gewannen Spiel 1 knapp mit 8-7, unterlagen im zweiten Spiel jedoch mit 1-5. Sogar mit nur einem Sieg wäre die Playoffqualifikation noch möglich, jedoch müssten die Zürcherinnen auf einen Split zwischen den Wil Devils und den Bern Cardinals am Sonntag, 8. September hoffen.
Das NLB-Team reist am Samstag, 7. September für zwei Auswärtsspiele zu den Hünenberg Unicorns. Die Challengers könnten sich mit zwei Erfolgen bezüglich Siegen und Niederlagen eine positive Bilanz erspielen. Am Opening Day gewannen die Zürcher beide Spiele gegen die Zuger, als das Team von Headcoach Robert Sedin die Saison mit einem 7-3 und einem 7-6 Sieg eröffneten. Die Spiele beginnen um 11.00 und 14.00 Uhr in Hünenberg Wartstrasse.
Challengers clinch Playoff berth
The Challengers NLA-Team grabbed the final Playoff berth on Saturday, August 31, finishing the Round Robin in fourth place with a 17-11 record after a split with the first-placed Therwil Flyers. The C's won the 28th and last regular season game, as they posted a 9-3 victory over the Flyers to make sure that their cross-town rivals Zürich Barracudas can't pass them anymore in the standings. Despite the Flyers cruised to a 9-0 shutout victory in Game 1, the C's won the season series against the Flyers 3-1. The 17 wins are the second most for the C's in the last ten years, just one win short of the 18 wins in 2012.
The Challengers will either face the Flyers again or the reigning Swiss champion Bern Cardinals in the semi-final series. Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday, September 14.
Ladies keep playoff hopes alive
The Softball-Team is still tied for fourth place after a split with Wil Devils on Saturday, August 31 at the Klopstockwiese, what keeps the Challengers in the race for the last playoff spot. The Devils took a 4-0 lead in Game 1 and never looked back, as they posted a 5-2 victory. And the Devils also jumped off to a good start in Game 2, as they built an early 3-0 lead. But the C's settled down after committing several errors in the first frame and erased the deficit to eventually win 4-3.
The Challengers will face the Bern Cardinals on Saturday, September 7 at Bern. With a sweep the C's could clinch the playoff berth.
Cadets finish season in 8th place
The U15-Cadets finish their 2013 campaign in eighth place after losing the games for seventh place on Saturday, August 31 at Dulliken. The SG TruckStar/Challengers lost twice against the Black Hawks. After losing 13-17 in Game 1, the Black Hawks had also the better end in Game 2, posting a 16-10 victory. Thanks to the Truck Star organization for the pleasant and successful cooperation for the third straight year.
Die U15-Cadets beenden die Saison 2013 im achten Rang. Im Duell um Rang sieben unterlag die SG TruckStar/Challengers am Samstag, 31. August in Dulliken zweimal den Black Hawks. Nach einer 13-17 Niederlage im ersten Spiel, behielten die Black Hawks auch in der zweiten Begegnung mit 16-10 das bessere Ende für sich. Letzte Vorrundenspiele der NLA und Softball Heimspiel
Das NLA-Team trifft an seinem letzten Vorrundenspieltag am Samstag, 31. August auf den Tabellenführer Therwil Flyers. Die Challengers haben einen Vorsprung von einem Sieg auf den Stadtrivalen Zürich Barracudas und müssen im Kampf um den letzten Playoffplatz vorlegen. Ein Sieg gegen den Leader würde die definitive Qualifikation für die Playoffs bedeuten. Die Barracudas bestreiten ihre letzten beiden Spiele am 8. September ebenfalls gegen die Flyers. Die Flyers verloren in der laufenden Saison lediglich drei Partien, darunter allerdings beide Spiele gegen die Challengers am 28. April in Zürich. Die Spiele werden um 11.00 und 14.00 Uhr in Therwil Känelmatt ausgetragen.
Das Softball-Team empfängt die Wil Devils am Samstag, 31. August auf der Klopstockwiese. Die Challengers werden versuchen den vierten Tabellenrang bis zum Ende der Vorrunde zu verteidigen, der die Qualifikation für die Playoffs bedeuten würde. Die Challengers liegen derzeit mit den Devils gleich auf. Am 25. Mai gewannen die Zürcherinnen beide Partien in Wil, als sie sich mit 13-5 und 8-7 durchsetzen konnten. Die beiden Teams standen sich bisher 28 Mal gegenüber, wobei die Challengers mit 16 zu 12 Siegen knapp vorne liegen. Die Spiele beginnen um 11.00 und 13.30 Uhr.
Die U15-Cadets bestreiten am Samstag, 31. August in Dulliken die Platzierungsspiele um Rang 7 und 8 gegen die Black Hawks, eine Spielgemeinschaft des Baseball Teams Embrach und der Zürich Lions. Sowohl die SG TruckStar/Challengers als auch die Black Hawks belegten in ihrer Gruppe in der Vorrunde jeweils den vierten Rang. Spielbeginn an diesem letzten Spieltag der Saison 2013 ist um 11.00 und 13.30 Uhr in Dulliken Untere Ey.
C’s take two from Devils
The Challengers did what they had to do on Sunday, August 25, as they swept the Wil Devils in a day-night double header at Wil. Being tied for fourth place with the Zürich Barracudas, the C's absolutely had to win twice against the Devils to move one game ahead of their local rivals in the battle for the last playoff spot with two games remaining.
Game 1 was all Challengers, as they cruised to a 12-0 shutout victory over the Devils. Andrea Girasole tossed a completed game for his third win of the season, while Robert Sedin collected six RBI's. And the C's stayed focused also in Game 2, as they added a 15-6 win. Sedin recorded his sixth win of the season, while Thomas Blank led the offense going 4-for-5.
The Challengers will travel to Therwil on Saturday, August 31 to face the Flyers for their last two games of the round robin.
NLB-Team moves into 3rd place
The NLB-Team won for the third time in 2013 against the Sissach Frogs on Saturday, August 24 at the Heerenschürli ballpark. The Challengers posted a 16-11 victory in Game 1, as the C's held the Frogs and the rain off. Thanks to the win the C's passed the Frogs and moved into third place with a 10-11 record.
Game 2 of the double header had to be postponed due to rain. No make-up date has been announced so far. The C's will face the Hünenberg Unicorns on September 7 for their last game day of the season.
