NLB-Team swept by Cudas

The NLB-Team lost the derby on Sunday against the Zurich Barracudas. The C’s were dominated by the Cudas, losing Game 1 3-22. Simon Saxer allowed 7 runs – only one of them earned – in six effective innings, while Wascar De Leon had three RBI’s and Roger Burger added two hits. In Game 2 the Barracudas shut the C’s down, as they won 15-0. But the game was much closer, as starter De Leon pitched six strong innings, allowing 7 runs – four earned – and striking out 10, before the Cudas selt the deal by scoring eight times in the final frame.

NLB-Team splits with 1st placed Devils

The NLB-Team improved its record to 2-4 after a split with the 1st placed Wil Devils. In Game 1 the Devils erased a five-run deficit en route to a 20-12 victory. The C’s led 10-5 after 4 innings, as Simon Saxer and Adderly Sarmiento belted a two-run double each, before the defense fell apart. In Game 2 the C’s fought back by building an early 4-1 lead and held on for a surprising 9-5 win. Nick Lehmann slugged a three-run homer, while Roger Burger had two doubles and Rookie Alex Keating added another one. Simon Saxer pitched 1.2 innings for the win, while Lehmann earned the save by pitching the last four frames. The Challengers will face the Zürich Barracudas on Sunday, May 20 at the Heerenschürli.

NLB-Team advances in Swiss Cup with 21-0 shutout

The NLB-Team advanced to the second round of this year’s Swiss Cup by winning 21-0 against the Truck Star Dulliken on Sunday. Nick Lehmann and Simon Saxer combined for a shutout, while the Challengers offense erupted for 21 runs to win the game after five innings due to the mercy-rule. The second round on June 24 will see a Challengers derby, as the NLB-Team will face the NLA-Team.
