The NLB-Team posted its 12th win of the season, as the Challengers won 15-2 over the Thun Hunters on Saturday, August 16 at the Heerenschürli ballpark. Although the Hunters opened the score crossing the plate twice in the first frame, the C's sealed the deal already in the bottom half of the first inning. The Challengers scored 12 runs on seven hits, two walks and two hit batters for a 12-2 lead. Yusuke Azuma, Juan Bautista de la Rosa and Adderly Sarmiento delivered two hits apiece and five different players drove in two runs each, while Oli Christen gave up two runs and four hits with seven walks and seven strikeouts in 5 1-3 innings for his fourth win of the campaign. Game 2 had to be canceled due to heavy rain.

NLB-Team remains perfect, rolls over Mustangs
The NLB-Team remained unbeaten in 2014 after sweeping the Embrach Mustangs on Sunday, August 10 at Embrach. The Challengers, who are now 11-0, posted a 15-4 victory in Game 1, before they confirmed the feat with a 14-4 win in the second game of the day. The C's have now a four-game lead over the second placed Zürich Barracudas and will play the Thun Hunters on Saturday, August 16 at the Heerenschürli ballpark.

The NLB-Team remained perfect in 2014 and extended its winning streak to nine games, after beating its cross-town rivals Zürich Barracudas 4-3 on Wednesday night at the Heerenschürli ballpark. And it was a dramatic win for the C's in a game that included a triple play, a two-run infield fly, a winner who was outhit 7-4 and a second baseman who juggled the ball about three times for the final out of the game with a one-run lead and runners on second and third base.
Challengers starter Oli Christen went 7.1 innings allowing three runs – two earned – and seven hits with seven strikeouts for his third win of the season, while Nick Lehmann pitched the final 1.2 innings to notch the save. The C's will face the Embrach Mustangs on Sunday, August 10 for a double header.
NLB Night Game am Mittwoch

Das NLB-Team spielt am Mittwoch, 6. August in einem Night Game um 19.00 Uhr im Baseballstadion Heerenschürli gegen den Stadtrivalen Zürich Barracudas. Die Challengers werden gegen die zweitplatzierten Barracudas versuchen, ihre Ungeschlagenheit in der laufenden Saison zu bewahren und ihre Siegesserie weiter auszubauen. Die beiden Teams trafen bereits am 11. Mai aufeinander. Damals blieben die Challengers zwei Mal siegreich.
NLB-Team remains perfect
The NLB-Team swept the Thun Hunters on Sunday, July 13 at the Berner Oberland to keep their record perfect. The Challengers took Game 1 of the double header, that was originally scheduled for May 24, by posting a 12-1 victory over the Hunters and they added an 11-3 win in Game 2 to extend their lead over the second placed Zürich Barracudas to two games.

The NLB-Team stays hot, as the Challengers are off to a perfect 6-0 start after sweeping the Hünenberg Unicorns on Saturday, May 17 at the Heerenschürli ballpark. The Unicorns opened the score in the top of the first inning, scoring two runs on three hits. But then the C's took over. They answered right away with four runs in the first and three more in the second frame and added three more in the fifth en route to a 10-4 win in Game 1.
Oliver Christen, Nick Lehmann and Thomas Burger combined for a four-hitter, while eight Challengers had a hit. Adderly Sarmiento led the offense with two hits, while Alex Gordon had a two-run double and Gregory Zingg and Carlos Nepomuceno drove in two runs apiece.
In Game 2 starter Yusuke Azuma and the Challengers kept the Unicorns' bats quiet again, as the C's posted an 8-0 shutout victory to win their sixth game in a row. The Challengers scored twice in the bottom of the first and made it 5-0 in the second to put things out of reach.
The C's will face next the Thun Hunters on Saturday, May 24 at Thun.
NLB-Team wins twice in local derby
The NLB-Team swept the Zürich Barracudas on Sunday, May 11 at the Heerenschürli ballpark. The Barracudas scored twice in the first frame, but the Challengers took the lead in the third and never looked back for a 9-7 win in Game 1.
Oliver Christen tossed six plus innings of four-hit ball allowing four runs and five walks, while striking out seven. Kurt Kovac led the offense with two doubles, while Juan Carlos De la Rosa, Carlos Nepomuceno, Renzo Falcone and Daiki Sato delivered two hits apiece and Roger Burger and Gregory Zingg drove in two runs each in the bottom of the third inning for a 5-2 lead.
And the C's made it a perfect 4-0 start into the 2014 campaign as they posted a 15-8 victory in Game 2 to complete the sweep against their local rivals.
The C's will host the Hünenberg Unicorns on May 17.

The NLB-Team had a successful start into their 2014 campaign, as they swept the Hünenberg Unicorns on Sunday, May 4. The Challengers opened with a 14-4 win, as Kurt Kovac, Carlos Nepomuceno, Michael Torres and Gregory Zingg had two hits each and Nick Lehmann struck out seven in five innings allowing tree runs and seven hits. And the C's added a 16-6 victory over the Unicorns in Game 2 to make it six in a row against Hünenberg.
On Sunday, May 11 the C's will face the Zürich Barracudas at the Heerenschürli ballpark.

The summer practice for the Zurich Challengers Baseball-Teams starts at April 2 and takes place every WEDNESDAY from 6pm to 10pm and every FRIDAY from 6pm to 8pm at the Heerenschürli ballpark in Zurich Schwamendingen (S-Bahn S3/S9/S12 and tram no. 7 to Bahnhof Stettbach or tram no. 9 to Hirzenbach).
In addition to that batting practice will take place every MONDAY and every THURSDAY at 7pm at the Heerenschürli batting cage.
Das Sommertraining für die Baseball-Teams der Zürich Challengers beginnt am 2. April und findet jeden MITTWOCH von 18:00 bis 22:00 Uhr und jeden FREITAG von 18:00 bis 20:00 Uhr im Baseballstadion Heerenschürli in Zürich Schwamendingen statt (S-Bahn S3/S9/S12 und Tram 7 bis Bahnhof Stettbach oder Tram 9 bis Hirzenbach).
Zusätzlich findet jeden MONTAG und jeden DONNERSTAG ab 19:00 Uhr das Batting Practice im Batting Cage auf dem Heerenschürli statt.
