The Challengers are one loss away from the end of their season after losing Game 3 of their best-of-five semi-final series against the Bern Cardinals on Sunday, September 29. One day after tying the series at 1-1, the defending Swiss Champion took also Game 3, as the Cardinals posted an 11-4 win over the C's. Game 4 will take place on Saturday, October 5 at the Heerenschürli ballpark.
In the other semi-final series the Therwil Flyers are leading 2-1 against the Embrach Mustangs after the Flyers cruised to a 9-1 win in Game 3.

NLB-series will see deciding Game 3
The NLB-Team missed its first chance to advance to the final, as the Challengers lost Game 2 of their best-of-three series at Therwil against the Flyers on Sunday, September 29. The Flyers tied the series at 1-1, as they posted a 10-8 win over the C's. The deciding Game 3 will take place on Saturday, October 5 at Therwil again.

The Challengers lost Game 2 of their best-of-five semi-final series with the defending champion Bern Cardinals on Saturday, September 28 at the Heerenschürli ballpark. The Cardinals jumped on starter Robert Sedin in the first inning as they scored four runs on four hits and one error before the C's ended the inning with a double play. After that, Sedin kept the Cardinals bats under control and allowed just two more runs, but the Challengers didn't come through against Patrick Lawson who limited the C's to one run and six hits in a 6-1 win. The Series is now tied at 1-1, with Game 3 being played on Sunday, September 29 at 2pm at Bern Allmend.

Pitchers Nick Lehmann and Oliver Christen cooled down the Flyers' bats and the Challengers took a 1-0 sereis lead. Game 2 will take place on Sunday, September 29 at 10.30am at Therwil.

The 1st League-Team is still looking for its first victory of the season. The SG TruckStar/Challengers lost twice against the Zürich Barracudas on Saturday, September 28, but they are coming closer and closer. After losing Game 1 by a score of 36-11, Game 2 was a nailbiter. The two teams went into extra-innings with a 3-3 tie, but the Barracudas eventually walked away with a 4-3 victory.

Das NLA-Team der Challengers empfängt am Samstag, 28. September um 18.00 Uhr die Bern Cardinals zu Spiel 2 der Best-of-five Halbfinalserie im Baseballstadion Heerenschürli. Die Challengers führen in der Serie mit 1-0 nachdem sie das Startspiel am 14. September auswärts in Bern mit 9-4 gewannen. Die Challengers werden versuchen, nahtlos an der ersten Begegnung anzuknüpfen, während sich die Berner dafür rehabilitieren möchten, dass sie am Sonntag den Schweizer Startplatz im A-Pool Europacup knapp nicht verteidigen konnten.
Das dritte Spiel der Halbfinalserie findet am Sonntag, 29. September um 14.00 Uhr auf der Berner Allmend statt.
Das NLB-Team startet am Samstag, 28. September mit einem Heimspiel in die Playoffs. Der Gegner Therwil Flyers entschied während der Vorrunde drei der vier Begegnungen zu seinen Gunsten, allerdings sind einige Spieler inzwischen ins NLA-Kader der Flyers aufgestiegen. Die Challengers werden versuchen ihren guten Lauf fortzuführen, Zuletzt gewannen sie sieben von zehn Spielen, um die Vorrunde mit 12 Siegen und 12 Niederlagen auf Rang drei abzuschliessen. Spielbeginn ist um 13.00 Uhr im Baseballstadion Heerenschürli.
Spiel 2 der Best-of-three Serie wird am Sonntag, 29. September um 10.30 Uhr in Therwil Känelmatt I ausgetragen.
Das 1.Liga-Team trifft am Samstag, 28. September auf der Sportanlage Untere Ey in Dulliken auf die Zürich Barracudas. Die SG TruckStar/Challengers spielt um 11.00 und 14.00 Uhr gegen die dritte Equipe der Barracudas.
Cardinals lose A-Pool spot by an inch
The Bern Cardinals lost the A-Pool spot at the European Cup Playoff tournament at the Heerenschürli ballpark. And it was close. The Cards missed first place by one run, as they lost their second game of the 3-day tournament on Sunday, September 22 to the Urkainian team KNTU Elizavetgrad by the score of 3-8. Despite beating the Senart Templiers from France on Friday, as the Cardinals posted a 7-0 shutout win, they finished in second place behind KNTU due to the tie-breaker rules. With all three teams finishing with a 1-1 record, KNTU's TQB (Teams Quality Balance) was 0.059 ahead of the Cardinals' TQB. So the 2013 Swiss Baseball Champion will play the European Cup Qualifier tournament in 2014.

The Challengers won the series opener against the defending Swiss champion Bern Cardinals on Saturday, September 14 at Bern. The C's posted a 9-4 victory over the Cardinals to stop their seven-game losing streak against the Cards. Ten years ago the C's won their last postseason game against the Cards, dropping 12 straight postseason games in that span.
Eidrys Reyes and Robert Sedin went 4-for-5 and scored two runs apiece, while Säntis Zeller and Francisco Colindres drove in three runs each. Starter Tobias Siegrist allowed four runs – two earned – and seven hits with no walks while striking out nine in eight innings of work and Andrea Girasole finished it in the ninth.
Game 2 of the best-of-five semi-final serie will take place on Saturday, September 28 at the Heerenschürli ballpark. On the upcoming weekend the Bern Cardinals will play the European Cup Playoffs at the Heerenschürli ballpark, as the Cards will face the Senart Templiers from France and the Ukrainian team KNTU Elizavetgrad.
Softball season ends in semi-finals
The Softball-Team lost twice against the Therwil Flyers on Saturday, September 14, as the Challengers' season came to an end in the semi-finals. The Flyers cruised to a 13-1 win in Game 1 and added a 2-0 victory in Game 2 to sweep the C's in the best-of-three series.
The Flyers will face the reigning champion Luzern Eagles in the finals. The Eagles eliminated the Zürich Barracudas in the other semi-final series in two games as well.
NLB-Team finishes at .500
The NLB-Team lost their 24th and final game of the preeliminary round on Saturday, September 14 at the Heerenschürli ballpark. The Sissach Frogs scored six runs in the second and five runs in the fourth innings en route to an easy 16-3 win over the Challengers. The C's opened the score with one run in the bottom of the first inning, but scored no runs after the second frame, as the Frogs cooled the C's bats down.
With the first loss against the Frogs in 2013 after three straight wins the Challengers finish in third place with a 12-12 record. They will face the Therwil Flyers in the best-of-three semi-final series. Game 1 will take place on Saturday, September 28.
The 1st League-Team lost twice against the Devils/Vikings on Saturday, September 14 at Dulliken. The SG TruckStar/Challengers has been edged 8-6 in the first game, while the Devils/Vikings took also Game 2 with a 22-9 win.
