Karen Heimgartner received the MVP award at the Challengers’ General Assembly on December 9. She led the Challengers with a .328 batting average, 9 doubles, 33 runs scored, 22 hits, 21 runs batted in and 31 total bases offensewise. In the pitcher’s circle, she collected 5 wins, 103 strikeouts and 8 complete games with a 1.34 ERA in 52 innings pitched, earning her also the Best Pitcher award. Leandra Simitovic was named the Softball’s Best Batter with a team-leading .328 batting average and with team-leading marks of 25 walks, one homerun, a .466 slugging average and a .530 on-base percentage. Alexia Zingg, successor of last year’s MVP Bobbie-Jean Taylor at the catcher’s position, was credited with the Best Fielder award, while Andrea Wirth was named Most Improved Player and Elisabete Vieira was named Rookie of the Year.
